BEFORE THERE WAS CHRIS TIU (by Simon Paterno)
He was a 5'10" guard with a deadly-accurate jumpshot. He was muscular and scrappy; he seemed to be involved in some of the most physical plays since it was not his nature to back down. And he had ice in his veins. He had a penchant for hitting game-winners in the biggest contests.
During his time, the NCAA had champions for both the first and second rounds, with the two champions meeting for a best of three series for the crown. If a team won both rounds, they were automatically champion. With the first round championship on the line, he hit a game-winning jumpshot at the buzzer to give the Blue Eaglets a sure seat in the finals. At the championship game, he made a game-winning steal against the San Sebastian Staglets, in the instant the opposing guard glanced at the scoreboard to check the clock for a potentially game-winning offensive, and hit the lay-up as time expired. 70-68. He didn't bother using the backboard. He just fed the ball gracefully into the ring and the net barely moved. The blue half of the Rizal Memorial Coliseum exploded while the yellow half was stunned.
He moved up to the seniors and joined one of the most talented Blue Eagle teams of any college era. They won a couple of championships.
So, who is he?

i watched your new show last monday, and i want to congratulate you.. you're a good host!!.. but anyway, i really really want to ask you this question.. did you really ate the worms????... by the way, i watched your game versus UE, i had fun sobra!!.. i had to stay sa ue side kasi yung cousins ko are both from ue.. they let me stay in between them para daw hindi ako bugbugin ng mga taga ue.. hahaha!!:).. i was the only one cheering for ateneo(duh!):).. nakakahiya, but it is okay!!.. atleast nanalo ateneo!!.. i have a lot of photos i posted it in my multiply.. well. that's it.. hi chris! i've been following your blog silently but after you and the rest of the team pulled that monster win against UE last thursday, i refuse to continue holding my peace! that was ABSOLUTELY amazing! although i just watched the game at home, the overwhelming excitement got me still hyperventilating even 10 minutes after the game! it was THAT exciting. i even sang the school song in front of the tv! HAHA. i kind of hate myself for not having been there live. :(
anyway, you showed in that game how badly you wanted to win. and you so triumphantly conquered the odds! yan ang magis! yan ang puso! ( okay, sorry for that. ang baduy :)) )
btw, pls say hi to charles for me. the camera showed the part of the audience where he was seated several times and i was instantly reminded of how he kindly offered to try to get me tickets for some of your games. (but now im too shy to ask him about it hehe) your brother seems to be a really nice person, maybe he's as nice as (people say) you are. :D

i already had my ticket to watch the game live but there was a problem so i just gave my upper b ticket to my tito who was rooting for UE(argh)..
though i was able to watch the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter and the overtime on tv..
your 3 points was oh-so cool..
i thought i watched it before and then my brother told me that rukawa (from the anime slamdunk) did the same fake then 3 points shot..
i got really amazed.. =]
then sir buenafe did the same rukawa thing as 2 UE players tried to block him but still managed to shoot his lay-up..

Congratulations to your game yesterday. finally! my wish did came true. i've seen the bLue eagLes in person, especially YOU! before i'm just watching it on tv, but now i've watched it LIVE! i cant believe na nasa big dome na ko & i'm actually watching my favorite uaap team. sayang nga lang, i don't have the chance to have a picture with you. sana next time pag nanood kmi ulit makapagpapicture na ako sa'yo. hehe! bumyahe kami for 3 hours but it's all worth it & super happy ako talaga kasi at last nakita na rin kita. you're so handsome in person. ang cool mo pa maglaro. kahit na nagkakatensyon na ang admu & up cool ka pa rin. iba k talaga! nakakatuwa mga cheerers nyo ung ateneo blue babble battalion. we're seating in upper box a tapos nkaspread sila around us. nakakatuwa talaga sila kahit ang ingay nila. hehe! they are so energetic kasi throughout the game wala silang ginawa kundi mgcheer sa inyo kaya nga namemorize ko na ung mga cheer nila for your team. haha! wala lng, share ko lang ung most unforgettable experience ko just happened yesterday. i will never forget the date august 24, 2008 because i've finally saw my ultimate crush. wOw! pero mas masaya sana kung nakapagpapicture ako sa'yo. i hope you dont mind, can you give me a picture with your autograph. please, please, please... i'll be very very happy if you will give me. Hey Chris. I was in the game against UP yesterday, and I just want to tell you how much I appreciate all your efforts; and heart; and FAITH in the Lord. You truly made us, the Ateneo community, proud again. It’s holiday today and I got the chance to really spend more time to pray and listen to the Lord. Well, I prayed for you guys, big time!! And guess what, the Lord spoke to me and I just want to share with you His revelations:
